I am very excited to take you on this journey of visiting this place with me! Although my knowledge in Indian food will probably not do its justice, but I will certainly try my best!

FOOD FAQ

Where is the origin of butter chicken? Butter chicken is believed to originate from New Delhi India in 1950s.
Who invented butter chicken? Apparently, there is a heated contested debate about this (this issue is currently even in court..) So this is ONE of the versions, which is that it has been invented by Kundan Lal Gujral, who originally invented this dish in Peshawar, which is now in Pakistan. He later moved to New Delhi which is now considered the origination of butter chicken.
What is butter chicken sauce? Butter chicken main ingredients includes obviously chicken, but for the sauce it’s a tomato and butter based.

Value & Vibe

Value: I personally think Tandoori Flame offers great value for a buffet. Obviously not an every night out kind of meal but I believe once in a while or for a larger celebration, I think its great! For adult, its $40CAD for dinner on Friday and the weekend. For weekdays its $35CAD.

Vibe: Great vibe! Staff are very attentive. People are courteous. Overall pleasant experience for a huge buffet place.

Taste

To be honest I was too busy stuffing my face in all these different options so I didn’t have a chance to take individual picture of each dishes, so instead, I will show you the overall offerings that it has and comments on my personal highlights. But honestly, overall they taste great! The beauty about the buffet is that even if you were not a fan of all the dishes, there are so many dishes for you to try. Therefore, my recommendation is that take a first lap try out as many as you can, THEN you go back to the ones that you really like!

Butter Chicken – Ok now I know what you think. Butter chicken? No way. To be honest I also didn’t even bother with it. But one of my friends got some, so I also had an opportunity to try. AND honestly it was fantastic! I have had many versions of butter chicken. I was told some are more authentic than the others. I don’t know if this is the most “authentic” version but it was delightful! A lot of times, butter chicken is overpowered with cream but here the sweet and sour of tomato sauce was perfect! I highly recommend you to try it!

Hakka Dishes – I personally like the Hakka style Indian food (Indian Chinese Fusion) in general. So if you like it, I recommend try a couple of their dishes with the Chili and Manchurian style sauce. The tanginess, saltiness as well as the comforting sauce will not disappoint.

Tawa Chicken – The marinated chicken and the spice was excellent! If you are into a lot of spice I recommend!

Goat Curry – There were a few options available. Overall I enjoyed them. Pretty good!

Make your own Pani Puri – Pani Puri station was awesome! A lot of fillings and sauces available for you to choose from.

Tandoori Chicken – Tandoori Chicken was also great! Chicken was very tender and combining with the sauces, it was a great combination. When you are a little too overwhelmed from the spices of the other curries, take a break for a milder succulent chicken meat!

On top there are also wide varieties on Indian snacks and desserts for you to enjoy as well! Overall I would say, especially for those who are not as familiar and looking to try different Indian dishes, Tandoori flame is a great choice for you to pick and choose dishes to try in a comfortable and inviting environment! This would be a great place for me to take out friends to try out Indian food for the first time!

Score

Atmosphere: 7.5/10 (Great. The place is massive so it will also depends on where you sit. But overall beautiful decoration and great vibe. Nothing extraordinary that stood out but no complaint. Overall courteous staff and atmosphere)
Price: 7.5/10 (Great price. I would say for a buffet you will definitely get your worth. However, I am usually reluctant on giving the buffet outstanding score as you may find an even better taste for your specific dish. But for those who wants to experience as many Indian dishes, I would say its an excellent price )
Taste: 7.5/10 (Great taste all around. Some dishes are better and some are worse. So for some I would definitely give a higher score. But overall on an average, great taste!)
