Im sorry that I havent posted in the past two weeks. But I am back! Today we are going to quite an unusual spot, a Persian restaurant in uptown. Steps away from Finch TTC station. It is quite a unique place where the night took quite a different turn than what I originally had in mind. Today I will be sharing my experience at Tehranto! Lets go!

Value & Vibe

Value: It certainly not “cheap” but given the quality and the vibe (which we will go over in the next section), I think it is actually very well priced. The portion is huge along with the ambience, I think it is well worth the money.

Vibe: This place definitely has a club vibe. We do not see this style of restaurant as much in typical North America restaurant where it is essentially a full club but you can still get a decent priced and huge portion full course meal. Essentially it feels like you are walking into a club in which the middle section has an open dance floor but at the same time, the place is also filled with tables with exquisite meal for you to enjoy. The surprising part about it is that there was a DJ AND an entertainment dancer that also came out. ***Please note that there was a $10 added as part of the entertainment fee. This was not explicitly communicated when we sat down. We actually had a great time BUT please be aware that there is a charge. I do not know if this always is the case or only nights with dancers but just a heads up.
I was also told that in some nights its get really busy and people usually come to party so a much more party vibe. All in all if you are looking for a night out with your friends but is bored of the typical bar food. This could be a great option to have both.

Taste

So today I want to review two dishes that I got which are Ghormeh Sabizi and Kashke Bademjon.

Lets first start with Kashke Bademjon. It is described as “Mashed fried eggplant with creamy yogurt sauce, walnuts, mint, & crispy onions”. For those who like eggplant, I would really recommend this dish. The dish was beautifully plated and the taste also did not disappoint. There is a mild bitterness to it but combining with the crunchiness of the onion and the rest of the sauce, I thought it was a fantastic appetizer. It also go great with bread as the appetizers for the table! The component that really stands out is the fried onion that goes so well with the eggplants.

On to my main course which is Ghormeh Sabizi. This dish is described as “Herbed stew with veal shank, dried lemon, and red kidney beans”. I thought the stew was well made and the presentation was great. However, I would say that the dried lemon also has some sour/bitterness to it (should have known). For those who like an herbal , sour/bitter style stew, this would be a great choice. But personally for me, I would prefer another type of stew. The “surprising” part for me was putting butter on rice yourself. My understanding is that this is pretty common for this cuisine but this was my first time trying it in the restaurant, and it was great!

Overall, I am genuinely impressed with the quality of food that I have received especially when it felt more like we were walking into a club. This was a proper meal in a night club establishment. After the meal, we joined the dancer for a quick along with the other guests, was really fun. Overall great food, vibe and atmosphere. Perfect for an adult night out.

Score

Atmosphere: 9/10 (Outstanding fun vibe. Party/Going out atmosphere)
Price: 7/10 (I am not sure if its common but should have explicitly inform the customer of the entertainment charge prior of sitting down (which I would happily pay) so I am taking off points but the rest is great value)
Taste: 8/10 (Excellent taste all around. Would like to try more stew as this one is not my favorite)

Scale:
Would not recommend: Below 2
Need some improvement: 3-5
Average: 5
Decent: 6
Great: 7
Excellent: 8
Outstanding 9+
